Film tour - Part 1
Come along as we explore the rich Western film history of the Santa Clarita Valley with SCV residents and film historians E.J. and Kim Stephens. The tour departs from the Cowboy Festival Shuttle Site where we head north towards Agua Dulce, passing several filming sites along the way, including Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch. We will then pause to admire the site of the final scene of the entire Silent Era, where Charlie Chaplin and Paulette Goddard walked off down Sierra Highway at the conclusion of Modern Times. The next stop will be at Vasquez Rocks, where hundreds of Westerns have been shot since the dawn of film. We will tour the park’s new interpretive center before heading down to the center of the park, where we will spend time among the majestic monoliths seen so often in motion pictures and on television. Next, we pass by Mystery Mesa and Box Canyon, one of the most popular film locations in all of Los Angeles County. We make our final stop at the Tesoro Adobe, the home of Western star Harry Carey, and pause at Paul Walker’s tragic crash site, before concluding the tour back at Cowboy Festival Shuttle Site. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
